Once I have ceramic coating do I ever need to apply a new layer?Ceramic coating needs maintenance to stay effective in protecting your vehicle. The products we use require minimal maintenance. We recommend getting hand car wash instead of machine washes and bringing it in for our coating wash at least once a year.

Do you have package deals for ceramic coatings?Our ceramic coating package comes with a vehicle wash and polish. If you bring in multiple vehicles or would like to create a specific package, let us know. We will create a custom package for you.

How long should I expect the job to take to be completed?The time it takes to complete the job depends on the years of protection you want on your vehicle. A 5 year protection could take 4 hours while a 9 year protection could take up to 10 hours.

What exactly is paint protection film?Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a thin transparent plastic layer that is applied to the surface of the vehicle. It protects the paint from scratches, rock chips, and all weather conditions. It is self healing and can repair itself. Is this a requiring service or once I have it done it will last the life time of the vehicle?Depending on the film, PPF should last the lifetime of the vehicle. Formula Finish uses the best brands of PPF and all our services are warrantied.

Will you vacuum the inside of my car?Our car wash along with our interior detail include an interior vacuum. We can also add a vacuum to any other service.

How long have you been tinting windows?Formula Finish Tech was founded in 1980. Ever since then, Formula Finish Tech has been a market leader for window tinting services in San Diego keeping up with the many industry improvements over the years. How dark can I have my windows tinted tin California?California tint law requirements are for for the front windshield and front side windows (driver & passenger) to have a 70% VLT. There are no tint restrictions on any back windows or rear window. Formula Finish carries all shades of tint available on the market. Through special software, we can show you how your vehicle will look with different shades.

How dark should I tint my vehicle? Am I better protected if I tint with a darker shade?The tint shade or VLT (Visible Light Transmission) controls the amounts of Ultraviolet light that passes through the tint. Thus; making the window darker. Blocking heat, glare, and harmful UV rays depends on the type of film used. Formula Finish Tech carries all tint shades and 5 different types of films that suit your needs and protect you from all weather conditions in San Diego.

What is the difference between Regular, Carbon, and Ceramic films?The main difference between all films is the blockage of heat, harmful UV light, and glare. Regular films block little to no heat while carbon blocks 25% to 40% heat and ceramic film blocks 80% to 95% of the heat on the film. With advances in tint, there are different types of ceramic films that can block almost all of the heat, glare, and harmful UV light on your windows. Make sure to check the product description for the heat rejection % before your purchase.

Will tinted windows last the life time of the vehicle? What warranty do you give?We provide a lifetime warranty on all our car window films. Reliable films can last 25-30 years while cheaper films last less than 6 months to 3 years. At Formula Finish Tech, we carry multiple international brands like Xpel, 3M, & Johnson. We carry 5 different types of films and we keep all shades in stock at our San Diego location.

How long should I expect tinting service to take?Tinting all windows on a vehicle takes 2-4 hours while tinting a window takes about 35 minutes. Tinting a car windshield takes 50 minutes. Formula Finish Tech offers a car rental on specific window tinting services.

What exactly is car paint restoration?Paint restoration is the process of restoring and rehabilitating a vehicle's paint to like new condition. This is done by removing all swirls and scratches from the paint through a special process of polishing, claying, and healing the paint. A layer of paint protection is also added at then of the process. We recommend bringing a touch up paint pen with your vehicles paint code if you have deep scratches. If you are not sure if your vehicle needs a touch up pen, please give us a call.

Will you provide body work to bump out dings and scratches before paint restoration service?Yes. We have body-work specialists that can bump out dings. We can also remove scratches through the paint restoration process. We do not perform any major body work. Please give us a call if you have any inquiries.

Do you recommend ceramic coating after a paint restoration service?Ceramic Coating or our Teflon protection is highly recommended for any vehicle after our paint restoration package. Although the paint restoration package comes with a short term protection, preservation of the paint is recommended to prevent the effects of weather conditions or swirls on the paint.

Will you blend painting in with the rest of the exterior if restoration is only needed in one area?Yes. It can be blended in with the rest of the vehicle.

How do I know when I need a full mew paint job over a restoration service like this?If your vehicle requires a new paint job, we will let you know when we see it and will recommend a shop for you.
